An Afghan National Army soldier was killed in a Taliban attack in southern Zabul province in the early hours of Tuesday morning, local officials said.

In addition, three other soldiers were wounded.

The attack took place at about 1am local time in Mezana district of the province when the Taliban attacked a check post and clashed with soldiers, officials said.

The insurgents then fled the area, according to officials.

However, they died not provide further details on the attack.
