At least 59 insurgents were killed during joint security forces counter-terrorism operations across the country in the past 24 hours, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
“The operations were conducted in Khost, Laghman, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kunar, Maidan Wardak, Helmand, Zabul and Kunduz provinces. As a result 59 armed militants were killed, 23 wounded and 18 others were arrested by Afghan National Defense and Security Forces,” the statement said.
It said that security forces had also discovered and confiscated light and heavy rounds of ammunition.
However, the statement did not provide any further details.
