Abdullah Warns Political Parties Against Their Rifts

The Chief Executive of the National Unity Government, Abdullah Abdullah, at a gathering on Friday warned political parties over their rifts and said Afghanistan will step into a crisis if the disagreements continue.

He made the remarks at a ceremony on the 10th death anniversary of Sayed Mustafa Kazemi, who lost his life in a suicide attack in Baghlan province in 2007.

Abdullah said the National Unity Government (NUG) has not delivered some of its promises.

“If we continue the rest of the way with tensions and disagreements, I think it will be a chance that we will give to the enemies,” said Abdullah.

Abdullah pointed out to elections and said: "I see the talks over presidential election and nomination as a legitimate move. On its time, everyone will have the right to run for elections or to vote."

Speakers of the event talked about Kazimi’s activities and the situation in the country.

“Let me tell you honeslty, we have lost a great man who we need and who Afghanistan and the national uity need,” Safia Sediqi, an adviser to labor and social affairs ministry, said.

“Whatever you see today in commerce and industries sector, all have been founded by Kazimi,” Khan Jan Alokozay, deputy head of Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries, said.

At the same event, the second deputy of the chief executive, Mohammad Mohaqiq, said the upcoming elections will face crisis once again if government does not bring fundamental reforms to the electoral bodies.

“Nothing will change by shifting one or two persons. They have asked for reforms in the electoral commissions,” said Mohaqiq.

Other speakers at the event criticized government over insecurity in the country.
