Almar District Police Chief Killed In Bomb Blast

The police chief of Almar district in Faryab province, Nasim Qate, was killed in a bomb blast on Saturday evening. The bomb was placed inside his vehicle, local officials said.

Faryab Police Chief's spokesman Karim Yurish confirmed the incident and said it took place in Chaghatak area in the district.

His driver was wounded in the blast, Yurish added.

Qate was a member of Jamiat-e Islami Party and he had survived two attacks in Maimana-Almar road in Faryab.

The Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah's office condemned the attack and called it an act by Afghanistan's enemies.

Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
