Death Toll Rises To 20 In Kabul Suicide Attack

The death toll from a suicide attack in Kabul’s PD9 has increased to more than 20, sources said on Friday. 

The sources said 30 others were wounded in the explosion. 

The suicide bomber detonated his explosives in Banaee area in Kabul’s PD9 where protestors and police force members had gathered, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement. 

Kabul Police Chief Mohammad Salim Ehsas said at a press briefing on Friday that 13 people were killed and 18 others were wounded in the suicide attack.  

Police force members were also among those killed in the attack, eyewitnesses said. However, Ministry of Interior has not given an exact number in this respect.     

The blast occurred at 8:30pm on Thursday evening.

On Thursday afternoon, dozens of locals and shopkeepers launched a protest in the area to reject the allegations against them which said they sell alcoholic drinks in their shops.

Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack.
