A plume of black smoke was seen rising above downtown Kabul on Monday morning after at least two explosions were heard in the Shar-e-Naw area at about 11.15am.

Early, unconfirmed reports indicated the explosion was close to the Iraqi embassy. 

Kabul residents also reported hearing gunfire following the explosion. 

Exact details have not yet been disclosed by officials.
