Family Of Soldier Killed In Nangarhar Calls For Help

The family of a young soldier who was killed on Wednesday in a military operation against a group of militants in Achin district in the eastern province of Nangarhar asked government not to leave them alone.

Humayun, member of Afghan National Army’s Commando Unit, got married four years ago and left two sons, Ibrahim and Hanzala, and his wife Mursal.

Mursal and her sons are living under a tent in the yard of his sister’s house in Kabul.

She said government should provide them with a shelter.

“I urge government to give me and my sons a shelter and help them to go to school,” said Mursal.

Humayun’s relatives said six members of the soldier’s family have sacrificed their lives in defending their homeland.

Humayun’s father, Rokai, said his son fought over 10 years to defend the country.

“He had passed the training and was assigned to train others in Pul-e-Charkhi. Then I heard that he was deployed in Rishkhor (area in the outskirts of Kabul city) and that he has joined the commandos,” Rokai said.

Humayun’s friends also urged government not to leave Humayun’s wife and sons alone.

“He was the only breadwinner of his family,” Ghulam Mujtaba, Humayun’s father in-law said.

“He has nothing. His relatives donated money for his burial and funeral ceremony” said Khaild Seddiqi, another relative of Humayun.
