At least four suicide bombers were killed on Monday night in Kandahar before reaching their target, local officials said Tuesday.
Kandahar police spokesman Zia Durrani said the bombers were arrested in Maroof district of Kandahar province.
Durani said the suicide bombers had planned to target the district council building and police headquarters using a Humvee vehicle.
“Police identified them before reaching the target and killed them,” Durani said.
The Humvee bomb was detonated in a controlled environment, officials said.
