Ghani Says The Nation Will Have No Mercy On Insurgents

President Ashraf Ghani on Thursday said the people of Afghanistan will not give in to those who do nothing but shed the blood of the people and destroy the country.

The government will have no mercy on those committing acts of terrorism, said Ghani on Thursday while expressing his condolences to the families of last week’s Taliban attack in Kabul on a bus carrying employees of the ministry of mines and petroleum.

He said that government was investigating the incident and would soon identify those who planned the attack.

“It should be clear to everyone that we will not surrender to those who believe only in killing and bloodshed.” said Ghani.

The president also awarded families of the victims Mir Masijidi Khan and Malalai medals, and told government to do what it can to address the problems of the victims’ families.

“The message of the ministry of mines and petroleum to the families of the martyrs is that we will remain alongside the families and will do all we can as we carry out all efforts to treat the wounded employees,” said acting minister of mines and petroleum  Nargis Nehan.

“You saw that the plotters of the Kandahar tragedy were identified, you saw that plotters of the tragedy against the NDS directorate were identified, InshaAllah we also identify the plotters of this incident,” added Ghani.

This comes just over a week after a Taliban suicide bomber targeted a bus carrying employees from the ministry of mines and petroleum.

At least 38 people were killed, including 15 employees from the ministry, and 40 others were wounded.
