Following the news that 2,000 Afghans have been killed in the Syrian war while fighting Daesh, the presidential palace said Afghans should not be killed in any other countries at war.
President’s deputy spokesman Shah Hussain Murtazavi said the Afghan government is against its citizens’ involvement in proxy wars in other countries.
The Presidential palace’s remarks were expressed after Zuhair Mujahid, a senior member of the Fatemiyoun division said an interview with IRIB TV5 that in the last two years 2,000 Afghans fighters died and nearly 8,000 others were wounded in the war against Daesh in Syria.
“Afghanistan’s sons should not be killed for the goals of others in other countries,” said Murtazavi.
The Interior Ministry has asked those youths who participate in Syria’s war to rather fight Daesh in Afghanistan under the structure of the security forces if they really have the motivation to do so.
“If they have a strong will to fight Daesh, they can join with the security forces,” interior ministry deputy spokesman Nusrat Rahimi said.
“Anyone participating in armed conflicts of other countries will be jailed for five up to seven years,” Gul Ahmad Madadzai, deputy head of Afghanistan’s Lawyer Union said.
In the last three months, Daesh operatives carried out three suicide attacks in Kabul.
Ghulam Abbas, who witnessed Daesh attack on Tabyan Cultural Center in Kabul and helped carry the bodies and wounded, said the Afghan youths go to Syria to fight Daesh do so for the money.
“A big number of Afghans go to Syria for personal interests and money, not for defending the shrine,” said Abbas.
In the last two years, Afghan refugees in Iran have been fighting against Daesh in Syria under the structure of the Fatemiyoun division supervised by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Earlier the chief executive officer of the Afghan government, Mohammad Mohaqiq, in a meeting in Iran praised the Fatemiyoun fighters, including Afghans, for fighting against Daesh. His remarks were criticized by Afghan government officials.
