Green Trend Members Join Mourners To Help Secure Mosques

A number of Afghanistan Green Trend (AGT) movement members on Sunday joined their Shia brothers at mosques in Kabul in solidarity during Ashora.

Members said all the citizens of the country are brothers and they want to say “No” to those who want to create discord among the people and among the different Muslim denominations.

They said they took part in the Ashora ceremony and carried a message of “Solidarity and Unity.”

According to Green Trend members, no power can divide the nation.

“We have come here to say “No” to terrorists and to those who want to create discord (among the people) and want to express our hatred of them,” one Green Trend member Nasir Ahmad Farahmand said.

“Terrorist attacks on mosques are against the religion and Islamic values and do not belong in religion,” another member Abdul Sattar Saadat said.

Mourners of Imam Hussain meanwhile also insisted on brotherhood and said unity is needed in the country. They said they appreciated Afghanistan Green Trend members’ move in joining them and helping to safeguard the mosques.

“Shia and Sunni are flowers of a garden. We are united and right now a number of our Sunni brothers have come to the mosque,” said one Imam Hussain mourner, Mohammad Ayub.

Green Trend has in the past conducted campaigns to strengthen solidarity and unity among the people, but this time they showed solidarity and unity between Shia and Sunni at the Ashora ceremonies.
