Helmand Policewomen Concerned Over Their Safety

A number of policewomen in Helmand province have called on officials to provide security to them and their families.

The policewomen said however that no threats can prevent them from doing their work but that they have recently had to deal with increased threats against them and against their family members.

“Recent insecurity and terrorists threats have resulted in our families feeling less secure,” said Fatima, one policewoman in Helmand.

“We are under threat and we cannot walk freely in the city or the market and we want the Helmand leadership to maintain the security of us and our families,” said Halima another policewoman.

“However us policewomen are committed to saying No to threats and we will continue our work but security for our families must be provided,” said Malalai another policewoman.

Meanwhile Helmand police Chief Aqa Noor Kentoz, said that the Helmand provincial leadership will not neglect the issue.

“We have ensured security of these women and will ensure more security. We will not hesitate in our efforts for policewomen,” Kentoz said.
