Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Kabul on Sunday on an official trip and met with his Afghan counterpart acting minister Salahuddin Rabbani.
During his meeting Zarif raised concerns over a growing threat regarding the spread of terror activities in the region.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Zarif emphasized the need for the expansion of cooperation between Kabul and Tehran in combating terrorism and in boosting trade cooperation between the two countries.
Meanwhile Afghanistan’s acting minister of foreign affairs, Salahuddin Rabbani said terrorism was a common threat for Iran, Afghanistan and the region and called for joint efforts to fight the scourge.
It is expected that Zarif will also meet with President Ashraf Ghani, CEO Abdullah Abdullah and the National Security Adviser Hanif Atmar to discuss issues related to both countries.
