Kabul Explosion Separates Young Couple

Shafiqullah Noori, 25, was one of those killed in Wednesday’s deadly explosion in Kabul and was due to travel to Canada within three days.

Shafiqullah’s wife says that the demise of her husband has stripped her of all her hopes and dreams and says she now faces an uncertain future.

Relatives of the victim have called on leaders of the National Unity Government either to perform well or step down.

Shafiqullah had worked for Roshan Telecommunications Company in Kabul for the past four years and was the only breadwinner in his family.

“There is no one to prevent such attacks, all victims of the attack are civilians and innocent people,” said the victim’s uncle Qadam Ali.

Shafiqullah’s relatives said that the people are fed up with the bloodshed.

“If the government does not have the ability to provide security to people, they must step down and stop killing the people,” said the victim’s relative Hussain.

Shafiqullah’s mother says that she raised her son despite many hardships.

“I raised my son with a lot of hardships and with poverty, I trained him, he had a job, but they (insurgents) killed him,” said the victim’s mother.

Shafiqullah’s wife who is living in Canada returned to Kabul a few weeks ago and the two were set to leave for Canada on Sunday.

“We had arranged all our stuff to go to Canada, he left home yesterday and his dead body came home, now he sleeps in the grave,” said victim’s wife.
