Kapisa provincial council secretary Mohammad Aman Mubarez was killed on Friday in an explosion while he was at a picnic, officials confirmed.

Abdul Fatah Shafiq, the district governor for Hesa Awal Kohistan also confirmed the incident and said that Mubarez had been at a picnic in Kham Zargar area of the district when unexploded ordinance detonated.

Shafiq said the incident occurred at around 1 p.m. when an unexploded mine was triggered. Two of his bodyguards were wounded.
 
Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) also confirmed the death of Mubarez.
 
Mubarez had been the Kapisa provincial council secretary since 2014.
