Khan Urges Wider Regional Support for Afghanistan’s Stability

In order to establish enduring peace and stability in Afghanistan, world powers must focus on the root cause of the ongoing war in Afghanistan, said the CEO’s second deputy Mohammad Khan on Monday.

He urged the international community to focus on the financiers of the war in Afghanistan and implied that fighting a war in Afghan villages will not bring peace to the country and that the root cause of the problem needs to be solved.

Khan made the remarks during the graduation ceremony of 490 Afghan police recruits from the National Police Academy in Kabul on Monday.

He said the financial sources of the war in Afghanistan must be identified, otherwise international efforts and the war in the Afghan villages will not deliver the necessary outcomes, he said.

“Responsible countries in the world must review the funding sources of the insurgents, otherwise it would be difficult to tackle the war in Afghan villages,” said Khan.

He warned that Afghanistan’s neighbors would face the same conflict as Afghanistan unless  they come forward and cooperate with the Afghan government in terms of restoring peace and stability in the war-hit country.

“For further development of police, we need to increase the number of police academies in the country,” he said.

490 police recruits graduated from the National Police Academy in Kabul on Monday after completing their four year training program.

Addressing the police graduates, Interior Minister Taj Mohammad Jahed said that the country is in need of honest and sincere police officers who can work for the promotion of justice, rule of law and fighting crime.

According to Jahed, insurgents have been trying to conduct attacks inside big cities in Afghanistan recently.

“Despite that, our security forces are fully prepared for the upcoming war season,” said Jahed.

Meanwhile, commander of the National Police Academy General Abdul Jabbar Purdeli has stressed the need for the establishment of more police academies in the country so as to improve the skills and professionalism of police in the country.
