Nangarhar Man Begs For Help After Business Deal Goes Sour

A Nangarhar man and his family have been living on the streets of Kabul for about a month in protest over his former Pakistani business partners who allegedly stole his land and all their money.

Hassan told TOLOnews he has been forced to conduct his sit in protest in order for justice to be served.

The businessman said his Pakistani partners have the support of a Nangarhar MP Pir Bakhsh Gardiwal.

Hassan said he lodged a complaint against his business partners with judicial centers, but the Pakistanis have refused to appear in court.

According to Hassan, he was partners with the Pakistanis and together they imported cars from the United Arab Emirates and Japan.

He said his Pakistani partners had been using fake identity cards.

He also claims Gardiwal is holding his second wife hostage.

“I started business when I was 15 years old. I was importing cars from Japan, Malaysia and Dubai till 2009. But the Pakistani company has stolen my money and I referred the problem to judicial centers and they summoned the company, but Gardiwal helped them and they refused to come to court. They have taken my money and threaten me,” he said.

Meanwhile, when phoned for comment, Gardiwal said: “You broadcast the story, and keep in mind if anything happens to me and my life, I will do the same to them.”

Hassan and his family spent some time on the streets at night near the Supreme Court, but a week ago they moved close to the TOLOnews compound.

In this time, his children have fallen ill in the cold weather and some have been taken to hospital by people in the area.

“I know the people who have grabbed my land and stolen my money. We have been on the streets for about a month but no one pays attention to my case,” Hassan said.

Hassan says he has a house in Shah Shahid area in Kabul, but cannot go there as he afraid of Gardiwal’s men.
