New Footage Emerges On MOAB Destruction

Video footage of the MOAB blast site in Achin district of Nangarhar shows how the targeted village and tunnel system were all but obliterated in the Massive Ordnance Air Blast bombing by U.S Forces earlier this month.

The footage, sent to TOLOnews, not only shows how houses were demolished, both at the scene and on the slopes of nearby hills, and how tunnels were destroyed and all vegetation, including trees, were burned. The footage also shows the bodies of Daesh insurgents lying at the scene along with destroyed weapons.

Afghan national army soldiers at the scene said their military operations to suppress Daesh are ongoing in the area around the blast site.

Haji Bek, the commander of a Special Forces unit at the scene said: “There are 16 bodies here. Many bodies of them [Daesh fighters] are under debris.”

“All of their tunnels have been eliminated and only two tunnels remain. Evidence shows that many of them were foreign nationals,” the commander said.

The “Mother of All Bombs” was dropped in Achin in Nangarhar two weeks ago by U.S Forces and was aimed at eliminating a Daesh stronghold that included a network of caves and tunnels.
