Pakistan To Fence Parts Of Durand Line

The Federal Government of Pakistan has decided to fence parts of the Durand Line - the de facto border between Afghanistan and Pakistan - in order to prevent "suspected Afghan people" from entering the neighboring state, the Dawn repored.

According to Pakistani officials, the fencing would begin in a couple of months in line with a recent decision made in a high level of meeting, the report said.

A same intend was made last year in April. However the move strained Kabul-Islamabad ties.

Pakistan closed the Torkham crossing after an attack at a shrine in Sindh earlier this month.

Pakistan claimed that the attack at the shrine was planned in Afghanistan.

Later Pakistan started missile attacks on the Afghan provinces of Kunar and Nuristan, leaving hundreds of families homeless.

New border measures by Pakistan have led to the termination of all sorts of business interactions between the two countries.

Thousands of people are also stuck on both sides of the border.
