Probe Started Into Allegations Against Nusrat

The Attorney General Office’s (AGO) has started investigating corruption allegations against Khodainazar Nusrat, head of the Wolesi Jirga, Lower House of Parliament's, secretariat.

The AGO spokesman Jamshid Rasooli told TOLOnews that they have received the documents on the allegations from Wolesi Jirga’s Administrative Board against Nusrat.

He said the office has started reviewing the documents and that they might summon Nusrat after the assessment is competed.

Wolesi Jirga’s Administrative Board has accused Nusrat of involvement in corruption and embezzlement of parliament’s budget, he said.

“Our colleagues are assessing the docuements and they will soon start investigation in this regard,”Rasooli said.

TOLOnews was not able to have Nursat’s comments in this regard, despite many attempts.

“The issue is refered to AGO for further accurate investigation. AGO should probe the issue and should share the results with the parliament,” said Saleh Mohammad Saleh, an MP.

Wolesi Jirga’s first deputy speaker Humayun Humayun meanwhile said the parliament speaker is also involved in the same case lodged against Nusrat. He said the allegations against the Wolesi Jirga speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi should also be probed.

“The Attorney General's Office , the president and head of the National Directorate of Security do not want Ibrahimi to appear at the AGO due to political issues,” said Humayun.

Recently, Ibrahimi in a letter to the Attorney General’s Office said Nusrat is an honest person. He has asked the attorney’s office not to probe the case against Nusrat.
