Alizaye Hands Himself Over To Herat Police

Herat's provincial council chief Kamran Alizaye handed himself over to local police on Sunday afternoon after an arrest warrant was issued against him last week by the Anti-Corruption Criminal Justice Center (ACJC) court.

The court sentenced him to two and a half years in prison two weeks ago after he was found guilty of various charges including misuse of authority, interfering in attorney general’s affairs, insulting prosecutors and objecting to the appointment of senior officials in the province.

Alizaye said on Sunday he respects the law but will appeal his sentence and try to prove his innocence.
