Iran Deports Dozens Of Afghans On A Daily Basis

Dozens of Afghan refugees are deported from Iran on a daily basis and are sent back to Nimroz province – where they start their troubling journey to the neighboring country, a number refugees claimed.

TOLOnews’ Tamim Hamid said the deported refugees are living in a miserable situation in Nimroz – with some of them waiting to go back to Iran.

The refugees said they migrated to Iran for working due to a lack of job in Afghanistan.

“We had money but we spent all of it. They [Iranian officials] insulted us and told us that you don’t have culture,” said Abdul Waris, a resident of Herat who was recently expelled from Iran.

“I was deported. I want to go, but I do not know where to go,” said Ghulam, another deported refugee.

The Afghan refugees meanwhile blamed government for not paying attention to them.

“They [human smugglers] take 700,000 Iranian Rials to transfer refugees to Mashhad. Then they take one million Iranian Rials to transfer refugees to another refugee camp. They would beaten us if we tried to move on the way to the camps,” said Ezatullah, a resident of Badghis who was also deported from Iran.

According reports, Kabul does not have an exact number of unregistered Afghan refugees in Iran.

However, the two countries have agreed to register Afghan refugees and to not force them to leave Iran.
