Northeast River Zone Head Kidnapped By Taliban

Mohammad Naeem Nawabi of the northeast river zone in Northern Baghlan province head was kidnapped by Taliban on Saturday, Police said.
 
Baghaln police said Nawabi was on his way from Pul-e-Khomre, the capital of Baghlan province, to Samangan province when Taliban captured him along with his driver.
 
The police said that Nawabi was kidnapped from Haji Darwesh street of Pul-e-Khomre city and taken to Dand-e-Shahabuddin area of Baghlan province.
 
One of Nawabi’s family members said they are trying to get him released through the meditation of local tribe elders.
 
Taliban has not commented on the kidnapping.

The latest incident happened after Alam Jan Mujahid, an Afghan provincial council member, his grandson and two guards were killed last week during an armed attack in the Hussain Kheil area of northern Baghlan province.

After that attack the provincial council closed the council doors. It has not yet been reopened.
