Residents Slam Pakistan For Building Fences In Paktika

A number of residents of Paktika province, in the southeast of Afghanistan, claimed that Pakistan has started building fences in Paktika’s Barmal district.

The residents said they are concerned about this move by Pakistan.

Pakistani militia built military establishments and cut trees in Angoor Ada area in Barmal district before they started to build the fences, Paktika residents said.

Head of a tribal council in Barmal, Haji Qudratullah, said “dozens of Pakistani workers are busy in building the fences along the Jawaba Mountain in Barmal district” which is located along the Durand Line.

He said Pakistan has come three kilometers forward in Afghan territory but he added that the Afghan government has remained silent in this respect.

Qudratullah said the Barmal residents are ready to defend their soil.

Pakistan started building fences along the disputed 2,500km Durand Line in areas Islamabad deems “high threat zones” in March.
