At least six policemen were killed on Saturday night in a Taliban attack in Farah province, local officials said Sunday.

Aqbal Baheer Farah police spokesman confirmed the incident and said that the Taliban attacked several check posts in Farah Rod district.

In addition, eight other police soldiers were wounded, Baher said. 

According to Baheer at least eight insurgents were also killed in the attack.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
