A reliable source from government told TOLOnews on Sunday that Yasin Zia, Takhar governor, has sent his resignation letter to the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) on Sunday.

The reason behind Zia’s move to resign is not clear so far. 

The IDLG spokesperson Munira Yusufzada confirmed the report and said “Mr. Zia sent his resignation letter to the IDLG on Sunday”. 

She added that President Ashraf Ghani has neither accepted nor rejected the Takhar governor’s resignation.

Yasin Zia was appointed as governor of Takhar province on the proposal of Independent Directorate of Local Governance and the decision of President Ghani last year in October.
