Taliban Kill Civilians And Doctors After Collapse Of Taywara

The Taliban has reportedly killed dozens of doctors and patients at the Taywara district hospital in Ghor after seizing control of the district early Sunday.

Mohammad Aqbal Nazami provincial police spokesman said that Taliban killed all the doctors and patients in the hospital including women and children.

Taliban also torched the district hospital, Nazami added.

Although, local officials did not comment about casualties among security forces but a number of residents said that more than 30 security force members were killed in the clash with the Taliban in the district.

Nazami said that the Taliban also torched all governmental institutions in the district.

Following heavy clashes in Ghor province early Sunday morning Taywara district collapsed to the Taliban.

Public order police commander in Ghor Mahmood Andarabi, who is currently fighting on the battlefield himself, said the Taliban stormed the district center - which had only one check post manned by security forces.  

He also said that a number of security forces and local residents who have been supporting troops are reportedly under siege by the Taliban.

Reports indicate there have been a number of casualties but exact numbers have not yet been confirmed.

The Governor's Spokesman Abdul Hai Khatibi said that the commander of the local uprising forces and an MP Ibrahim Malikzada, along with his fighters, are under siege close to the district.

Khatib said Pasaband district is also under siege.

Taliban said on its twitter page that it had seized control of the district and that it had inflicted a heavy casualty toll on security forces.
