Three Of The Kandahar Blast Victims Laid To Rest In Kabul

Three of 11 victims of the Kandahar attack – including MPs Baz Mohammad Jawzjani and Snator Seraj Khan Safari as well as a young Afghan diplomat to the United States Yama Quraishi – were laid to rest in Kabul on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials and members of the two houses of parliament.

“The security forces are making sacrifices for the safety of the people and the representatives [MPs]. Tuesday’s attacks in Kabul and Kandahar are heinous acts which took the lives of the people,” Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said.

The Meshrano Jirga (Upper House of Parliament) speaker Fazl Hadi Muslimyar said at the ceremony that the Kandahar guesthouse explosion was plotted by international terrorists.

“The enemies of Afghanistan enjoy killing innocent people. Unfortunately, they have sworn not to end their crimes in the country,” he said.

Yama Quraishi, who lost his life in the blast, was related to former first lady Zeenat Karzai.

At the same event, Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament) speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, said: “We are concerned about such attacks by terrorists. We urge government leaders to pay more attention in ensuring the safety of MPs. Also, government should investigate the incidents.”
