Afghan, Indian And Pakistani Artists Paint Walls For Peace

A group of Afghan, Indian and Pakistani artists on Saturday started a campaign to foster equality and friendship between the three neighboring nations.

The audio-visual arts campaign includes painting, calligraphy and music, with the message of peace and shared humanity.

The artists on Saturday painted a poem of Saadi, a well-known Persian poet, on security walls surrounding the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in Kabul which delivered the message of friendship and care for each as well as humanity.

“We want to paint a poem in the mogul style. Pakistani and Indian artists are with us in this campaign,” Ahmad Reshad, member of Hunarsalar Art Group said.

“I have been invited from Pakistan and I have joined this group. We really welcome and praise this campaign and we want it to be part of peace and friendship activities,” said Omran Ahmad, a Pakistani artist.

“With a mogul-style art, we want to send the message to the people on the other side of the Durand Line and to the people in India that we all humans are equal and human values are above all. “We want to send the message of peace and friendship of Afghanistan to India and Pakistan,” head of the group said.

This comes after the Kabul-Islamabad relations have strained following an attack at a shrine in Pakistan which claimed dozens of lives.

After the attack, the Pakistani government closed the Torkham crossing which is the main route for travelers from the two countries.
