The well known Pashto writer, Saddudin Shapoon, died a few hours ago in Virginia in the United States.
Shapoon was born in Kunduz’s Khanabad district on 1933.
The 84-year-old wrote a number of novels, short stories and hundreds of comedy strips.
Shapoon had been hospitalized with an undisclosed illness at the time of his death.
He also worked for Voice of America Pashto service for over 20 years and was a veteran announcer.
Shapoon's body will be brought back to Afghanistan so he can be buried in his homeland.
