Airplane To Be Used As Restaurant In Kabul

For the first time, a depreciated Kam Air’s airplane was taken to a recreational place in Kabul city on Friday to be used as a restaurant for visitors of the park.

Kam Air officials said the airplane was depreciated a few years ago and they transferred it to Park-e-Shahr, a recreational place, in Joi Sheer area in Kabul.

“They (the contractor) wanted to have the airplane in the park for a long time. Based on a contract, we gave them the airplane to use it for a different purpose and also we wanted to leave some space at the (Hamid Karzai International) airport,” Kam Air official Massoud Arifi said.

The contractor company said it has invested over one million dollars in the project and that it will help dozens of families to visit the restaurant.

Kabul residents welcomed the move, saying that recreational places in the city should have a safe and a larger space for families.

“They have brought the airplane. It will be good to have more recreational places for the families,” said Nawid Mohammadi, a resident of Kabul.

Owner of Park-e-Shahr, Habibullah Esmati, said the number of visitors has dropped in recent months.

“This park is open from 8:00am to 12:00pm. It depends on peoples’ economic condition. The number of visitors has increased compared with previous years,” he said.

Kabul residents said they were excited at first when they saw the airplane being transferred to the recreational place.
