England-based Afghan Woman Eyes Investment in Afghanistan

An Afghan woman who runs a big jam factory in England wants to invest in a food factory inside Afghanistan.

Tahmina Farhang, an England-based Afghan, told TOLOnews she has a factory which produces jams under the brand name of Kookcha. The jams have an Afghan flavor.

Tahmina said she wants to create job opportunities for dozens of women by investing in Afghanistan.

“We want to invest here (In Afghanistan) to take Afghan products to world markets and create jobs for Afghan women,” she said.

She said to encourage their customers, they have written famous Afghan slogans like “the seeker is the finder”.

“We continue our efforts to produce chicklets and other foods, including jams, to introduce our products under the name of Afghanistan to the world markets,” she added.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) officials said they welcome such a move by an Afghan woman.

“The arrival of our foreign friends and Afghans who live abroad, and their investment is in our favor. They will mostly invest in agriculture, precious stones, and jewelry as well as handicraft, including carpets,” said Manizha Wafiq, chairperson of women’s chamber of commerce and industries.

Previously some foreign investors have shown willingness to invest in Afghanistan.
