Private Sector Loses Millions Of AFs In Deadly Bombing

Saturday’s deadly bombing in Kabul not only took a heavy toll on human lives but also caused millions of Afghanis in damages to buildings and businesses in the area.

Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) officials on Sunday said around 200 shops had been damaged and businesses have been disrupted in the area.

ACCI deputy chief Khan Jan Alokozay said the private sector has sustained millions of Afghanis in losses.

“In the recent attack, our traders and sellers in the area have suffered heavy financial losses. This will have a negative effect on investment in the country” said Alokozay.

Meanwhile, a number of shopkeepers whose stores were damaged in the area said they have lost all their money and do not think government will help them.

In addition to Jamhuriat Hospital, and a few other government facilities in the area, there is a printing company, a hotel and an antique bazaar, which all sustained serious damage.

“Everything have been damaged here and I don’t know who will hear our voice,” Lotfullah, owner of a printing shop said.

“People have lost millions. See everything is damaged in this bazaar,” Mohammad Hashemi, owner of another printing shop said.

The nearby hotel is completely damaged and its ceiling collapsed when the ambulance exploded. At the time, according to eyewitnesses, lots of people were inside the hotel eating lunch.

“I don’t know when government will prevent such attacks,” Ahmad Zahir, a shopkeeper in the area said.
