In an insurgent attack on Nato supply vehicles in Farah province, six militants, one police soldier and a convoy guard were killed

Najibullah Najib, a spokesman for Zafar 207 military Corps, told TOLOnews reporter on Sunday that the Taliban insurgents attacked a Nato convoy on Saturday morning in Bakwa district of Farah province and torched two supply vehicles.

Mullah Idrees, a Taliban commander, has also been killed during the attack, he added.

Nato officials have yet to comment on the incident.

Meanwhile, six Taliban militants and one National Army soldier were killed during the operation conducted by the Afghan National Army and Police in Pashtun Zarghoon district of western Herat province.

According to Najibullah Najib, the operation has been going on for the last two days to wipe out insurgents from the volatile areas.

Afghan forces have arrested two Taliban militants and siezed some weapons from militants, he said adding that the operation is still going on.

Farah borders Herat province and insurgency has recently increased in the provinces.
