Three coalition soldiers were killed in Taliban attacks Friday in eastern Afghanistan, NATO statement says.

Two NATO soldiers were killed on Friday when Taliban insurgents attacked foreign forces in the east, while the third soldier was killed in a road-side bomb blast in the south, a NATO statement said without revealing the dead soldiers' nationalities.

The statement did not disclose further details.

Road-side bombs planted by insurgents are an easy way to target Afghan and coalition forces, and have claimed the most fatalities among foreign forces.

A total of 465 international troops, 302 of them Americans have been killed this year in Afghanistan, according to icasualties.org, an independent website that tracks military deaths in Afghanistan and Iraq.
