At least 2 policemen were killed and 1 other was wounded in a suicide attack on Wednesday morning in the northern Baghlan province, local officials say

The incident happened at 10:30am on Wednesday in Pul-e-Khumri, the provincial capital of Baghlan province, Ahmad Jawid Basharat, a spokesman for the Police Chief of Baghlan told TOLOnews.

Taliban have claimed responsibility for the attack, saying three commanders of the village police force were killed in the blast.

Security has deteriorated in Baghlan in the past several months, and Taliban have recently warned civilians not to go to the polls.

Insecurity has remained the main challenge before the upcoming Afghan parliamentary elections set for September 18 this year.
