Afghan Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar says his fighters are close to winning the war in Afghanistan
In a statement, the Taliban leader called on the Afghan nation to put aside all the difference in ideas and unite against "the foreign invaders".
Mullah Omar's statement, which marked the end of the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan, was posted on the Taliban's website.
"The current Jihad and resistance in Afghanistan against the foreign invaders and their puppets, is a legitimate war, being waged for the defence of the sovereignty of the Islamic country and Islam," Mullah Omar says in the statement.
"Soon, if God is willing, our grieved hearts will find solace as the invading enemy is ousted and the Islamic sovereignty is established," he adds.
He called on all the former Mujahidden and employees working in Kabul administration to "participate in the glory of repelling the American invasion and regaining the independence,".
Mullah Omar, still considered as the spiritual leader of the Taliban in Afghanistan, has not been seen in public for years and is believed to be hiding in Pakistan.
The remarks come at a time when the US president, Barack Obama, ordered a further 30,000 American troops to Afghanistan last December to put an end to the Afghan war and the ongoing insurgency. in the country.
However, Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, has urged the international community to prevent civilian casualties in the country.
He has also said that the Obama troop withdrawal plan from Afghanistan in 2011 has given the Taliban a morale strength.
