News - Afghanistan

Pakistan's Parliamentary Committee on National Security has finalized its recommendations for a new partnership agreement with the US, Eurasia.net reported.

The recommendations will be given to the prime minister next week and then to parliament for approval.

Once approved, the recommendations will be the basis for talks with the US about new terms of engagement.

This may pave the way for Pakistan to reopen its borders to Nato supply vehicles, Eurasia.net said.

During talks, Pakistan may also try to convince the US to reverse its July decision to cut $800 million in aid, Eurasia.net said.

Pakistan closed its Afghan borders to Nato supply trucks on November 26 after a Nato helicopter fired on a border outpost killing 24 Pakistani soldiers.
