The transparency of parliamentary elections is seriously under question, Dr Abdullah Abdullah, the leader of the ‘Coalition for Change and Hope' said on Sunday
Although Mr Abdullah said he can not judge the results of parliamentary elections, but said that vote counting has not started in some provinces and the ballot boxes in some districts were still being filled in favour of some candidates.
Dr Abdullah said that lack of voting cards, ballot stuffing in favour of particular candidates and use of houses owned by influential people and governmental officials as polling stations were among the major problems during the elections.
"Polling centres were opened in the houses of some influential people and government authorities who misused their power and influence to put pressure on the Independent Election Commission," Dr Abdullah told TOLOnews reporter.
"There are reports from some districts of Kandahar province that votes are still not counted in some of the polling stations, and the ballot boxes are still being filled. We have received a lot of such reports, especially from Maiwand district in the province," he added.
Meanwhile, the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan (FEFA) has urged the Independent Election Commission (IEC) and the Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) to investigate and take action about electoral fraud complaints.
"There was huge fraud in some areas and there are credible reports about it. We hope to be able to assist IEC and ECC by documenting these reports and sharing them with these commissions," Jandad Spinghar, a spokesman for FEFA, told TOLOnews reporter.
ECC has confirmed electoral fraud and some voters and IEC employees have also expressed concern over fake voter cards and ballot stuffing.
