News - Afghanistan

Four Afghan policemen were killed Tuesday night and 13 Taliban insurgents were killed in the past week in separate incidents in Afghanistan, according to local officials.

Four Afghan policemen were killed while on patrol by a Taliban attack in the Ghoryan district of western Herat province on Tuesday night, a local official said on the condition of anonymity.

The district is considered insecure with the Taliban frequently targeting police checkpoints.

Meanwhile, in northern Parwan province, 13 Taliban insurgents were killed as a result of Afghan security forces operations in the province's Seyagerd district in the past week, provincial spokeswoman Roshna Khalid said.

Four other insurgents were wounded during the operations which are continuing in six villages of Seyagerd, she said.
The forces also seized many weapons during the operation, she added.

However, she did not provide any details about the casualties of Afghan security forces during the operation.
