A Lashkar-e-Taiba leader was killed in a joint Afghan and Nato security forces operation in eastern Kunar province, Isaf said on Saturday.Afghan and Nato troops was launched a military operation in Watapur district of Kunar province in which a lashker-e- Taiba leader and several other insurgents were killed, Isaf in a statement.
The leader had directed a cell of insurgents during multiple attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and provided money, weapons and training to insurgents in the region, it said.
Isaf said that "after determining there were no civilians in the area, the security force engaged the insurgents with a precision airstrike away from all civilian structures."
There were no Afghan civilians casualties during the operation, it added.
The statement also said that a Taliban leader was captured in Arghandab district in southern Kandahar province, today.
The leader is responsible for conducting attacks against Afghan and coalition forces throughout area.
The security force detained three suspected insurgents during the operation.
