A hidden improvised bomb in a motorbike killed a child and a policeman in southern Kandahar province Thursday evening, officials said.
The bomb was planted in the motorcycle and was detonated as a police convoy was passing in an area of Kandahar city at around 7:00PM, provincial spokesman Javid Faisal told TOLOnews.
Two other children and another police officer were wounded in the incident which also damaged the police Ranger vehicle, he added.
It comes as a Nato soldier was killed Thursday in southern Afghanistan during an insurgent attack, according to an Isaf statement.
No further details of the location of the incident or the nationality of the solider were released, as per Isaf protocol.
The death brings the total number of foreign troops killed this year in the Afghan war to 340.
There are around 117,000 international soldiers, mostly Americans, fighting insurgents in Afghanistan.
