At least two civilians and a policeman were killed and seven civilians injured after a suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle at a Nato base in the eastern Khost province Wednesday morning, local officials said.
The incident took place about 08:00 AM local time near the gate of an old airport now used as Nato base, provincial police chief, Abdul Qayoum Baqizai said.
"[The incident] happened while an [Afghan] policeman stopped the vehicle before it entered the airport. The vehicle exploded, killing the policeman and two civilians," he said.
Local officials said that all US troops and personnel were inside the base at the time of the attack, and there are no reports of foreign casualties.
Isaf also confirmed the attack but did not provide details about the casualties.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack and said that several US and Afghan troops were killed.
