Afghan government will technically train 1,700 beekeepers to enhance honey production in the country, says the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation

The Afghan Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation in a new plan to enhance honey production in the country, will give two boxes for each beekeeper, each of which will produce 50 kg of honey.

"We will further support the centre that we have in Dar-ul-Aman for training of beekeepers in how to keep their honey from plant pests," said head of the Programme Implementation and Coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Asad Zamir.

Honey producers believe that Afghanistan's honey has the best quality in the world.

"Our local products are the best and 100 percent pure," said a honey-seller.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation has so far provided technical training to more than 1,900 beekeepers throughout the country.
