
Thirty Afghan students completed their higher studies in Afghanistan American University in Kabul in different fields, including business, information technology and public management.
The graduation ceremony of undergraduates was attended by US Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry. During the ceremony Ambassador Eikenberry said the students have grown standard skills to handle their jobs and responsibilities based on professional and international standards.
The students spent four years in pursuit of their studies in American University based in Kabul and studied their field of choice. Today was the end of their undergraduate phase and they all received their Bachelor of Art (BA) certificates.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Eikenberry said we are considering to increase the number of students as each year goes by so that they could play their role in Afghan economy growth.
"The American University in Afghanistan will serve the future generation of students who will become leaders of Afghanistan and the region in business, information technology, society and in government," Mr Eikenberry said.
Zakia Sulaiman, 28, one of the fresh graduates in the ceremony, said: "I personally prefer to start a private business and to play a positive role in my society."
The American University is expected to be expanded into other provinces, including southern Kandahar and western Herat, Mr Eikenberry said.
