Afghan Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday said that it will soon issue 3G and Wimax licences to some mobile companies in Afghanistan.The Afghans will have access to high speed internet services after the new systems are utilised.
The Ministry also said that it will start distribution of electronic ID cards in Afghanistan next year and the first card will be issued to Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
In the next two and a half years most Afghans will have electronic ID cards, the Ministry added.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Information and Technology students in Kabul, the Afghan Minister of Communications, Amirzai Sangin, announced that there would be new projects to be implemented in the year ahead.
Presently around 4 percent of the Afghan people have access to internet services, but Mr Sangin promised that most Afghans will have to high speed internet connections distributed through the mobile phone companies.
