Afghan Govt Seeks Foreign Buyers for New Kabul Bank

News - Business

The Afghan government is seeking foreign buyers for New Kabul Bank (NKB), Head of Afghanistan's Central Bank Noorullah Delawari said on Monday.

He said that New Kabul Bank is the property of the Afghan government and the Council of Ministers has decided to sell the bank through a bidding and competitive process.

"Myself and the head of the Finance Ministry's Treasury department went to Dubai to seek foreign interest in New Kabul Bank. We provided all sort of information and conditions to officials in Dubai," Delawari said.

This comes as the former Kabul Bank officials appeared in a public hearing in Kabul last week and accused the Afghan president and several other officials for misusing the bank's budget for their own purposes.
