Afghanistan's snooker team reached the knockout stage of the World Snooker Championship after solid performances in the Bulgarian-based tournament on Wedensday, Afghan Snooker Federation officials told TOLOnews.

Nader Sultani defeated French snooker player last night while Raees Khan Sindzai defeated his Egyptian opponent and Zmrai Asas defeated a player from Austria, allowing all of them to go to knockout stage of the game, Deputy head of Afghan Snooker Federation Abdul Ghayoor said Thursday.

Nader Sultani has won three out of four matches, losing only to Pakistan 4-1, while Zmrai Asas suffered one loss to his strong opponent India. All the players have played four matches each, Ghayoor added.

The players have a good chance of reaching the finals, he added, in a competition which has seen around 100 players from 50 countries participate.

The World Snooker Championship is hosted by the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) from November 24 to December 2 at the Dedeman Princess Hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria.
