Afghanistan's Independent Election Commission (IEC) Saturday warned that further delay in the parliament's approval of the election law will create more problems for the 2014 election, but the parliament's administrative board responded that the lawmakers will approve it when they return from the winter break.
The IEC told TOLOnews that every task to prepare for the upcoming presidential election is on schedule and in order – expect for the approval of the election law which governs the structure and competencies of the IEC.
Hundreds of resident of western Herat province Saturday turned out to protest the kidnapping and murder of the son of a local businessman.
The protestors demanded the government deliver harsh punishment to those already arrested over the case, saying "we will not have the burial until the government has convicted them [kidnappers]."
