At least ten security forces and forty militants were killed during clashes in the Kurrum agency of Pakistan on Tuesday, Pakistani media reported.

Thirty two other security forces were also injured during the clashes, officials said.

Officials said that the helicopter gunships were mobilised when the fighting broke out in the Jogi area and six soldiers were killed on January 25 in the district of Kurram, part of Pakistan's lawless tribal belt along the Afghan border.

Security forces claimed to have taken control of Jogi, which is strategically located near Orakzai district.

Pakistani officials added that more than 300 insurgents attacked the checkpoint at midnight in central Kurram.
